Healthy, dewy skin is my version of beautiful. If I had to pick between a retinol or my absolute favorite makeup foundation, I’d pick the retinol. Makeup only looks as good as the canvas beneath it. Prevention is where it’s at, and quality skincare is EVERYTHING. So, in this post I’m sharing my current morning skincare routine featuring my RIDE-OR-DIE products.

I’ve been OBSESSED with skincare for as long as I can remember. Seriously though, as a teenager I remember spending all of my hard-earned babysitting money on my Kate Somerville skincare products- which equated to A LOT of time with screaming babies. Every time I babysat, I made may way to Sephora to check the latest and greatest. I clearly had champaign taste on a beer budget.

So, it’s time to share my current DAYTIME skincare routine!

First, my everyday morning cleanser, iS Clinical Cleansing Complex. This cleanser is by far the best cleanser I’ve ever used. I discovered this product from Jessica Alba’s esthetician, who swears by this cleanser. Let’s be real, Jessica Alba has the best skin in the business, so if her girl swears by a product, I’m going to give it a try.

I love this cleanser because it makes my skin feel fresh and clean, but not tight or dry. The lightweight cleansing gel is powerful; yet gentle enough for hypersensitive skin. Cleansing Complex incorporates a balance of bio-nutrients, antioxidants, and mild resurfacing ingredients that thoroughly cleanse the surface and pores of the skin without stripping essential natural oils, leaving skin soft and smooth!

After cleansing, I pat try and mist my skin with Odacite’s Mint + Green Tea Hydra-Purifying Treatment Mist. Let me start with the scent- it’s a SPA in a bottle. OMG, it’s that good, not only is it a lovely scented mist, it’s actually an essential in my skincare routine. This mist infuses my skin with breakout-controlling actives while hydrating my skin. It contains peppermint, which controls against excess oil production, green tea which acts as a powerful antioxidant, and aloe vera which keeps skin hydrated.

Next up, PCA’s ExLinea Peptide Smoothing Serum, a NON-NEGOTIABLE in my book.  So here’s the thing, I’m 28 years old, and I’m starting to notice “changes” in my skin, and by changes I mean fine lines. Uhh, no thanks! So, my skincare regimen is highly focused on prevention, the key is to combat the fine lines and wrinkles BEFORE they penetrate too deep into the skin. And that’s where ExLinea comes in.

ExLinea minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with a blend of peptides and emollients. The formula features hyaluronic acid ( your BFF for anti aging ) to continually moisturize your skin, while Vitamin E neutralizes free radicals to help prevent and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I use this product as a spot treatment on those damn forehead lines and around my eyes. Nip that shit in the bud.

The third step in my morning skincare routine is Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum. This vitamin c serum is packed with antioxidants to reveal a brighter and more even looking complexion. After I apply this serum, my skin has such a radiant glow. I’ve noticed that with all vitamin c serums, there’s a bit of a tacky texture when initially applied. The trick here is to allow the serum to soak into the skin for about 10 minuets before you move forward with the next product in your regimen, after two or so minuets, the sticky feeling is lessened.

LET ME JUST SAY, vitamin c serum is ESSENTIAL, especially if your skin has seen a little too much sun ( really wish I put on a hat and some SPF 50 during my teenage years ), this product will help combat the UV photo damage and reduce dark spots.

Next up, moisturizer. Before finding this moisturizer, I tried EVERYTHING, all the name brands, all the hyped and overpriced moisturizers, and nothing really did it for me, until I found Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer. This moisturizer literally melts right into my skin. Important point! Moisturizer is not effective if it’s just sitting on top of your skin, it’s supposed to penetrate into the skin. When I sampled this product at Sephora, I knew this was the one. I actually did an experiment and put the Glow moisturizer on one half of my face, and a different moisturizer on the other half of my face, and the difference in the way my skin felt comparing each side was freakin’ crazy!

This product contains a duo of AHAs- glycolic and lactic acids- with added pineapple, pumpkin, and papaya enzymes which instantly reduce the appearance of skin dullness and uneven texture- AKA your glow in a bottle. TYSM.

Fifth step, EYE CREAM. It’s so important to keep the delicate skin around your eyes moisturized and nourished with quality anti aging ingredients. I’m really into Lancer Eye Contour Lifting Cream right now. First of all, this eye cream’s reviews speak for themselves, 5 stars across the board. Essentially, this magic in a bottle improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. Additionally, this eye cream sets so well under makeup. Say goodbye to caked under eye makeup that ages you 10 years, with this cream my concealer stays in place.

Finally, SUNSCREEN. I love Tizo3 Age Defying Fusion SPF 40. This sunscreen is water resistant, tinted, and also gives my skin such a silky and poreless finish, it’s the perfect makeup primer. This product looks great on my skin by itself on no-makeup days, or provides the best base when I’m full glam.

So TELL ME! I’d love to know your daytime routine. Do you stick to the simple life, or is it crazy detailed?

I’m off to grab my protein coffee and back to emails I go!

  1. Great article! Thank you for the shares! I too believe makeup is only looks as good as the canvas beneath it. I share in my love of the Exlinea product by PCA skin. As my skin has matured, I have found moisturizers containing Glycerin do not penetrate my skin, leaving little rolled up jelly like balls on my skin and trying to apply foundation? Forget it! It is difficult to find moisturizers that do not contain Glycerin. I have found one that I am currently using, Laura Geller Spackle Treatment Soothing Makeup Primer. If you have any suggestions I’d be more than happy to listen.
